Frida Harari Sitton: ECO
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Frida Harari Sitton: ECO
15 March 2023
Jenn Singer is pleased to present Frida Harari Sitton: ECO, an online exhibition of dynamic new mixed media artworks by Mexican artist Frida Harari Sitton.
The artist’s new series was created during a period when she was enduring simultaneous health challenges that forced her to rethink her art and way of working. ECO reflects the medical terminology that was part of Harari Sitton's experience during production and its resulting exploration of repetition and visual echoes.
Through ECO, Frida Harari Sitton address life and death; facing material fears and transforming them into strength. The holes in the smooth plastic surfaces of the work, without imperfections, show another reality through texture, seeking to simultaneously show viewers their most idealized and vulnerable selves.
‘Just as moments of silence are essential in music; space, emptiness, transparency and darkness are elements that counterbalance, accentuate, and give life to the 'protagonism' of the plastic elements of the work,” says Harari Sitton.
Frida Harari Sitton’s ECO draws on natural phenomena such as light and movement, to create immersive installations that invite viewers to explore the unseen. The series includes a variety of works, from kinetic paintings that reflect in response to a viewer's presence, to video and light works that explore the effects of refraction and reflection.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Frida Harari Sitton, born in 1985, Mexico City, Mexico, is a painter and filmmaker, who studied in Mexico, Switzerland and Spain before graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communication at Anahuac University, with a specialty in film.
Harari Sitton’s works on canvas combine abstract painting techniques with neon light to focus on the dynamics of color, texture and light. Her latest work explores visual perceptions through transparent, colorful acrylics. The compositions of and play between overlapping color and light are secondary to the viewer’s perception of the ephemeral concept of reflection.
Frida Harari Sitton wrote, produced and directed the musical short film "Esa de Rojo", which opened the door to her career in film, participating in Hola Mexico Film Festival in Los Angeles, California in 2009 and Oaxaca Film Festival in México the same year.
In 2015, she wrote, produced and directed Phosphenes an experimental art short film, which was an official selection in more than ten international film festivals (NYFA, FICMO, Calella, FIBAC, ABC Spain, Bahamas Film Festival), and was awarded the prize in its category and jury prize for the film festival of Ottawa, Canada (FICMO).
Frida Harari Sitton’s artwork is held in international private collections and has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico City, NYC, São Paulo and Miami. Her film, Phosphenes, has been featured in the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City.
